Construction

Real wood on top, built to be finished in place

Not every engineered floor is made to be sanded and finished on site. For this kind of project the floor needs a real hardwood wear layer with enough thickness to sand properly. We spec sandable engineered construction: a genuine wood surface over a stabilizing core, so the floor can be finished in place while still offering more flexibility over concrete, lower levels, and wider plank formats.

Not every engineered floor can be finished on site.
For site-finishing, the real wood surface needs enough thickness to sand properly. We typically look for a 3–6 mm wear layer, giving you room for custom color, a flat finished surface, and future refinishing potential.

The same plank can be laid three ways — the pattern changes the entire character of the room.

Straight — the classic. Clean lines, timeless, and the most efficient use of material.

Herringbone — boards woven in a broken zigzag. Tailored, European, quietly formal.

Chevron — boards meeting at a point, driving the eye down the room in continuous arrows.

Patterns turn the floor into architecture. Herringbone and chevron take more material and labor — run them wall-to-wall, frame a single room, or border an entry. Ask to see pattern layouts with your sample boards.

Longer and wider planks with better stability

Because engineered flooring is built in layers, it can support wider widths and longer lengths with less seasonal movement than many solid options. The result is a calmer, more architectural floor with fewer seams.

What finishing in place gives you

Prefinished engineered hardwood gives you speed and convenience. Site-finished engineered hardwood gives you more control. Starting with unfinished planks lets the final color, sheen, and surface be decided in your home, on your floor, in your actual light.

Every site-finished floor follows a careful sequence. The key difference is that color and sheen are chosen on your actual floor, not from a small chip in a showroom.

What you're paying for, piece by piece

The price comes from two parts: the engineered plank itself, and the site-finishing we apply after it's installed. Wear-layer thickness, core construction, cut, plank size, finish system, and job-site conditions all move the range from more affordable to more premium.
